The Golden State Warriors have won Game 1 of the finals series, notching a 104-89 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Warriors stars Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were well held by the Cavs, but it was Golden State's bench players who stole the show, with Shaun Livingston top scoring with 20 points, while Andrew Bogut (10 points) and Harrison Barnes (13 points) also impressed.

Kyrie Irving top scored for the Cavs with 26 points, while LeBron James finished with 23 points and nine assists.

Golden State led by nine at the main break, before an impressive third quarter from the Cavs saw Cleveland cut the margin to just two points, before the home side pulled away again and outscored the Cavaliers by nine points in the final term to record a 15-point win.

Game 2 is in Cleveland on Monday June 6.
