Carmelo Anthony's representatives have explored the market for the 10-time All-Star, having reached out to several NBA front offices on Tuesday, according to a report by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Houston have reportedly decided to waive Anthony, who will now look on to other potential landing spots.
The 34-year old missed his third-straight game today during Rockets' 109-99 win over the Denver Nuggets due to an 'illness', having played just 10 games in the red jersey.
Anthony signed a one-year $2.4 million deal with Houston during the off-season, opting to become a role player on a championship-contending side over taking a more prominent role elsewhere.
But the former scoring machine was inconsistent during his stint with the Rockets as were the team's struggles over the first 10 games this season, with a 4-6 record over that period.
Once released, Anthony could sign with a new team as soon he clears waivers, with several general managers across the league telling ESPN they are discussing whether he fits into their team.
"We've been extremely happy with his approach," general manager Daryl Morey told reporters on Monday (AEST).
"Every reason we've brought him here, he's followed."
