Australian guard Josh Green has been drafted to the Dallas Mavericks, with the Sydney product landing at 18th overall in the 2020 NBA draft.

Green was a prominent figure from Hills District to the Arizona Wildcats, averaging 12 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in college.

The 20-year-old joins Dallas All-Stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis under master coach Rick Carlisle.

Green will be the third Australian basketball player to play for the Mavericks, with Ryan Broekhoff and Chris Anstey.

In other local news, former Illawarra guard LaMelo Ball was taken with the third overall selection by the Charlotte Hornets, while New Zealand Breakers star RJ Hampton will head to Denver after being taken with the 24th pick.
