Kevin Durant divided opinion during last season's free agency period when he decided to leave Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder for a new home in Golden State, but not too many people can say it wasn't a great move for Durant.
Especially not now, anyway.
The 28-year-old scored 39 points in the Warriors' 129-120 Game 5 win over Cleveland, which saw Golden State win the series 4-1 and claim their second championship in three years.
Durant scored over 30 points in each of the five NBA Finals matches, which saw him crowned as the NBA Finals MVP.
Steph Curry chipped in with 34 points, 10 assists and six rebounds, while 2015 Finals MVP Andre Iguodala added a 2017 playoff-high 20 points.
“I just had to trust in it, we were really good tonight,” Durant said after the win.
“We prevailed, we are champions and it was amazing to do it on our own floor."
Durant had kind words to say about opponent and Cavs superstar LeBron James, after he became the first person to average a triple-double (33.6-10-10) in the NBA Finals.
“Since 2012 he is the only one I have ever looked at," Durant said of James after the game.
“I knew it was gonna be a battle. We battled and I told him we're tied up now.
“I'm gonna celebrate tonight.”
