Veteran NBA center Andrew Bogut has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

After receiving positive news surrounding his broken leg a few weeks ago, Bogut had been speaking with a number of teams about his future but ultimately signed with the purple and gold franchise for the veteran's minimum.

Bogut has a relationship with coach Luke Walton dating back to their days on the Golden State Warriors and his signing means he becomes the first Australian to play for the franchise.

The former No.1 overall pick had been in discussions with the Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics as well as the Cleveland Cavaliers before committing to the Lakers, with TNT's David Aldridge saying Bogut liked the 'LA vibe'.

Bogut has averaged 10 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.6 blocks over his career.
