Ben Simmons and Thon Maker have made history, as two Australians have been selected in the top 10 of the 2016 NBA Draft.

Simmons, as expected was selected with the No.1 pick by the Philadelphia 76ers, while the Milwaukee Bucks shocked everyone, selecting Maker with the No.10 pick.

Melbourne born Simmons will reportedly over $US25 million in his first deal with the 76ers. He joins Andrew Bogut as the only other Australian to be selected with the No.1 pick, when he was drafted by the Bucks in 2005.
